The designer MARC JACOBS

El Neoyorquino Marc Jacobs (1963) nacido en el Upper West Side, se fue a vivir con su abuela cuando solo era un niño. Su abuela, una mujer muy aficionada por la moda, le transmitió esta pasión.

De adolescente Marc observaba con admiración a la gente guapa, le resultaba una gran fuente de inspiración. Actualmente su fuente de inspiración principal siguen siendo las mujeres jóvenes de su entorno (como la directora de cine Sofia Coppola, la estilista Venetia Scott y numerosas actrices) de allí viene que temporada tras temporada, Marc Jacobs logre predecir exactamente lo que las mujeres de todo el mundo querrán llevar. Cuando terminó sus estudios de secundaria, Jacobs estudió en la presigiosa escuela Parsons School of Design de Nueva York, donde su colección de licenciatura despertó el interés de Robert Duffy (su actual socio)

juntos presentaron la primera colección de Marc Jacobs con la que obtuvieron el premio CFDA.

poco después Jacobs fue nombrado diseñador jefe de Perry Ellis, pero su colección donde predominaban las Birkenstock se satén y las camisetas de seda plisada fue el motivo de su despido.

En 1997 LVMH lo nombró director artístico de Louis Vuitton, donde realizó un gran trabajo potenciando la imagen de la firma con colaboraciones con artistas como Stephen Sprouse entre otros.

Este gran trabajo le llevó a que LVMH finaciara su propia línea Marc Jacobs, la colección masculina prêt-à-porter, dos colecciones de calzado, dos de línea de óptica, dos de gafas de sol, una colección de relojes, nueve fragancias, la colección de niños y una magnífica colección de objetos especiales.
